This is the women's era, we should be strong enough to do whatever we want: Kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor Khan has seen her fair share of scrutiny in the media. She was judged on her weight loss and gain after her 'size 0' transformation; and post marriage for not getting 'meaty' roles in films.

In spite of that, the actor believes that women should feel more empowered to do as they wish without feeling pressurised into doing what others expect or want out of them, reported Mumbai Mirror.

"People will always be there judging them. This is the women's era and we should be strong enough to do whatever we want to and feel good about ourselves without giving a damn to what others think of us," she says.

While actors are now strongly focused on how they look when out in public, Kareena confides that looking good is not her main objective.

"Looking good all the time is not important for me. I am as normal as anyone out there. Sometimes I even get out with my slippers on, which everybody around me gets annoyed by. I can't be in hair and make-up always," says the star.

She adds, "I can't step out of my bed looking like a fashion diva. My job is to act and not look pretty 24/7. I would prefer to be judged for my acting skills. I am not suppose to be a doll."

But in the digital age, celebs can't help but pay attention to detail, even when stepping out of the house. However, Kareena gives her older sister's example to prove that in the past, the entertainment industry was more about talent than looks and says, "It is all about an Instagram picture nowadays. During Karisma's time it was more about hard work, the talent and a lot of other things. But now the younger lot at times focuses more on looking good rather than polishing themselves as an actor. Things should not work like this."
